Coupang CEO Oversees Night Delivery Hub as Korea Tests 24/7 Service

Coupang Korea chief executive Harold Rogers visited a nighttime logistics site operated by the company near Seongnam in Gyeonggi Province, checking operations from last night into the early hours of today.

The visit became public after photos circulated on an online community showing Rogers inspecting courier bags at the site, illustrating hands-on oversight of the night-delivery network.

Rogers is scheduled to coordinate an overnight delivery experience with members of the National Assembly on the 19th, as part of preparations for that event.

The move follows his prior indication at a parliamentary hearing last year, prompted by a data privacy breach, that he would undertake a night-delivery experience; officials say details, including the schedule, are still being firmed up.

The development highlights Korea’s push to test and showcase 24/7 delivery capabilities, while continuing to address privacy and security concerns tied to rapid e-commerce services.

For U.S. readers, the episode underscores how major e-commerce platforms balance speed with privacy, data security, and labor considerations, and how policymakers’ scrutiny of tech firms can influence global supply chains, regulatory norms, and competitive dynamics with U.S.-based rivals.

Coupang remains a leading Korean e-commerce platform known for fast delivery, and the incident follows a years-long arc of expanding logistics capabilities alongside high-profile privacy debates that resonate beyond Korea’s borders. The reporting cites an online community post and Yonhap News Agency as sources.
